Revelation 21:1-8

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Revelation 21:3-4

Often, we think and talk about where we would love to visit on holiday or our ideal place to live. The qualifiers can be anything from temperate weather to beautiful scenery. Most people have those few locations in the back of their mind where they would love to seek refuge from the stressors of their daily lives. However, better than anywhere in this world will be the New Heaven and the New Earth. God has shown us throughout His Word that He desires to dwell with his people. Though that perfect communion in Eden was broken by our sin, He provided a plan for restoration and a new covenant. As Christ followers, we can look toward Christ’s second coming with anticipation. That glorious communion will once again be enjoyed.

As we wait, let’s choose not to sit idle. Though we are still living in the broken and sinful world, we have been blessed with the opportunity to commune with our God through prayer and strive to live for His glory. We have been blessed with the opportunity to serve the one true King every day. We have been given the opportunity to share the gospel to those around us and sing praises to the one whose plan is greater than ours. So while we wait, let’s not be burdened or impatient, but rather, let’s be faithful and steadfast.
