For about ten years now I have wanted to be a musician, to write and record and go on tour with original songs. I don’t think I’ve heard otherwise from God, so I’m still hoping that it’s part of His plan for my life. However, I’ve recently been wondering if I’m getting too old (I’m 26), so I turned to the internet for some reassurance. One of the top results let me know that there are in fact many successful artists who got started late…in their thirties!
5 Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. 6 And Sarah said, “God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh over me.” 7 And she said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.”
Genesis 21:5-7, ESV
There are two main truths I would like to point out today. Thirty is not old, despite whatever point the internet was trying to make about musicians, and there is no expiration date on God’s plan for us. Our God delivers on His promises and shapes our lives without limitations. Abraham was 100 and Sarah was 90 when they had Isaac. Their story is one that proves things that are impossible for us are possible with God.
Whether you are 26 or 62 or 100, you have not run out of time for God to do great things through you. Look to Him today; wait and see what He has in store.
