We are in the midst of a very unpredictable season…winter. I’m not going to waste time trying to convince you that it’s the best season, as I know it’s a lost cause. Even so, despite where you stand in your feelings toward this season, I think we all can agree that we go through the days leading up to all the winter storms as if the suspense is more than we can bear. Will the predictions be correct? Will we get the outcome we desire? Will we be disappointed? Will it hit when we think it will or come early? Or late? There are just so many unknowns, and we have to just wait.
One thing we know for sure is that Jesus is coming again. As we read these chapters of prophecy from Isaiah we clearly see all the things that have come to pass. Prophecies that were fulfilled exactly as they were spoken by the prophets…down to the smallest details. This past month our kids have been discussing how Jesus is the perfect prophet because He perfectly reveals God the Father and fulfills what the prophets spoke. In our discussions, we have looked back at the many prophecies that have come to pass and have been realizing the hope these bring. In a world where promises are broken, trust is hard earned, and lots of things are unpredictable, we can take solace knowing that Jesus is coming back and that God always keeps His promises. We don’t have to wonder if it will really play out as prophesied…we know. We don’t have to wonder if we will be disappointed…we won’t. We don’t have to worry about Him coming early or late…His timing is perfect. We can rejoice today knowing that Jesus has come and will come again. Until then we can live with true peace knowing our Father’s plan is best and He always keeps His word.
