What now? Where do we go from here? We’ve all asked these questions over the last couple of years–both individually and collectively. When circumstances and seasons change, it’s natural for us to wonder what a new season might bring, and when your teacher is crucified and then resurrected, it’s clear that you’re in one of those seasons. What now? Where do we go from here? As Jesus ascended into heaven, these are the answers the disciples sought and Jesus provided. He couldn’t tell them everything that was coming down to the second, but he reminded them of a promise and a purpose–the Holy Spirit was coming and they would bear witness to what they had seen and heard.
To be sure, we don’t find ourselves in exactly the same situation as the disciples did in Acts 1, but Jesus’ words certainly ring true when we wonder what comes next. We don’t know exactly what this day or this season will hold, but the Holy Spirit gives us power to bear witness to all that Jesus has done.
